CJFE is deeply concerned by the January 20 suicide bombing in Kabul that killed seven employees and injured at least 25 others from the Afghan media organization Tolo TV. CJFE calls on Afghan officials to conduct a proper investigation to identify and bring to justice the perpertrators who planned this attack. Read more
Anniversary of journalist Khadija Ismayilova’s arrest highlights Azerbaijani regime’s unprecedented repression in 2015
On 5 December 2014, prominent investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova was arrested on charges of inciting a local man, Tural Mustafayev, to attempt suicide. Two months later, authorities slammed her with additional politicised charges of embezzlement, illegal business, tax evasion, and abuse of power. Read more
Member of the European Parliament Mr. Pier Antonio Panzeri, together with 80 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), issued a letter to Bahrain’s King Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, calling on the Bahraini government to immediately lift the travel ban and drop all charges against human rights defender Nabeel Rajab.
