CJFE launches crowdfunding campaign for free expression Review

Thursday, February 13, 2014

We want to make CJFE’s annual Review of Free Expression in Canada even better, and we need your help.

The Review is a critical publication that protects free expression in Canada by letting you know about the most important events, legislation and court decisions impacting your rights in Canada. We also rank the performance of government departments, institutions and other organizations in our annual Report Card, so you know who is championing your rights, and who is failing to take up that fight.

From scientists being silenced, to an outdated access to information system, to the obstruction of protests over natural resources, this Review doesn’t just raise awareness about these issues, it also documents how free expression is evolving over time in Canada — for better or worse.

We produce the annual Review of Free Expression in Canada with a tiny staff and a dedicated group of volunteers. It takes us more than 2600 hours of work to get this crucial information out to the public. And, as a non-profit NGO, we spends every dollar we fundraises on this publication and its other programming.

So, to help us continue to improve the scope and depth of our research and writing and to increase the distribution and reach of the Review, we’re asking you to take part.

Join us in our crowdfunding campaign.

Our $5,000 goal is a modest one. Any donation, whether it be $1, $50, or $500 is an enormous help. So please give, and even more importantly, share what you’ve done with your friends, colleagues and family. Post about it on Twitter, Facebook, and any other social media you use. This will not only help us earn the money to make the Review’s publication possible, it will help get it in front of new audiences and inform more Canadians about what’s happening to our rights.

Thank you for taking action and joining CJFE in defending free expression in Canada.

Sincerely,

Tom Henheffer
CJFE Executive Director
