CJFE is proud to announce that we have raised just over 50 percent of our fundraising goal for the annual Review of Free Expression in Canada. We want to thank every single donor for helping us get this far with just two weeks into the campaign. If you are interested in donating, please visit our crowdfunding page by March 27, 2014. Already donated? Make sure to share our campaign with your social networks to expand the impact of our contribution. The overwhelmingly positive response our crowdfunding campaign has received demonstrates the considerable value that Canadians place on the freedom of expression. As we discover new forms of communication and develop innovative ways to engage in a democratic society, it becomes all the more important to recognize and protect our constitutionally guaranteed free expression rights. In honour of your support, the staff and volunteers at CJFE are hard at work to create a Review that reflects the most pressing issues affecting the state of free expression in Canada. Our managing editors had great things to say about the initial drafts they’ve received from those who’ve contributed their expertise to produce topical and thought-provoking content for the 2013-2014 Review. Ever since CJFE printed its first Review in 2009, we have had the good fortune of working with some leading figures working to defend free expression in Canada, ranging from professional journalists and lawyers to activists and academics. This year’s contributors include CBC Provincial Affairs reporter Jacques Poitras, Execute Director of FAIR David Hutton, and Alana Westwood of Evidence for Democracy.
