CJFE Looking for a FINANCE MANAGER

Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) has an immediate opening for an experienced manager with strong financial and administrative skills.
CJFE is a not-for-profit organization that works in Canada and internationally to defend the rights of journalists, develop media freedom and freedom of expression.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Finance and Administration will manage the financial operations of CJFE, including IFEX projects
(annual budget of $1-2 million) and the Canadian International Freedom of Expression Trust, and will ensure that the Toronto office (approximately 10 staff)
operates smoothly and that resources are used appropriately and effectively.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and monitoring annual budgets
Developing and preparing regular and ad hoc financial reports for the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, donor and regulatory agencies
Coordinating the annual audit
Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures
Providing guidance to program and fundraising staff with respect to budget development and monitoring and adherence to policies and procedures
Overseeing payroll and benefits administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable and donation processing
Developing and implementing office procedures, including overseeing electronic and paper record-keeping
Managing the physical resources of the organization, including office equipment and space, and ensuring they are adequately inventoried, maintained and insured
Managing information technology and overseeing local network administration
Providing administrative assistance to the Executive Director for the management of human resources, including compliance with organizational policies and relevant laws and statutes
Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, and providing recommendations to the Executive Director for policy changes
Qualifications:
Senior administrative experience in a not-for-profit environment
Minimum three years experience managing multi-project budgets, preferably funded by international development agencies
CGA Level 4 or higher, CMA, CA or equivalent work experience
Demonstrated experience with budget analysis and variance analysis
Experience working NewViews; proficient in Excel and other accounting programs
Experience with database management and fundraising software
Understanding of local area networks
Familiarity with CCRA and other regulations affecting not-for-profit and charitable organizations
Superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to use tact and diplomacy
Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures and working with volunteer boards and committees
