CJFE/IFEX is Seeking an Online EditorInternational Freedom of Expression eXchange (IFEX), managed by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE)
Full-time position, start date: February 2007 The International Freedom of Expression eXchange (IFEX) is a network of over 70 organizations worldwide that promotes and defends the right to free expression. The IFEX Clearing House (or secretariat) is based in Toronto and managed by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE), a member of IFEX. The IFEX Clearing House seeks an online communication specialist to manage production of the weekly IFEX Communiqué and take responsibility for IFEX website maintenance, as well as participate in the development and implementation of new information products. Key responsibilities include writing the Communiqué, managing contractors and service providers, and information project management including conceptualization, implementation planning, managing project budgets, as well as project evaluation and reporting.
The IFEX Communiqué is read by more than 15,000 subscribers worldwide, who regard it as a valuable information tool to stay up to date on the latest developments in freedom of expression around the world. The IFEX website is considered the place of record for free expression information in the world today, attracting an average of more than 6 million page views and 800,000 visits per month. Unique among websites, it is a one-stop gateway on free expression, featuring news and information from the free expression organisations that belong to the IFEX network - and an archive of over 15,000 items dating back over 10 years. Reporting to the IFEX Manager, the IFEX Online Editor collaborates with members of the Alerts and Outreach/Development teams and is in frequent contact with the IFEX membership.JOB DESCRIPTION: ONLINE EDITOR Responsibilities
