The International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX) is a network of 90 organisations worldwide that defend and promote the right to free expression. The IFEX Clearing House is managed by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) based in Toronto. We are seeking applications for the one-year contract position of IFEX Website and Technology Coordinator.

Job Description Summary

Responsibilities
• As point-person for the IFEX website, ensure IFEX website is accessible, backed up and operating smoothly, handle minor technical updates and liaise with technology consultants
• Publish multilingual content, including Arabic
• Monitor website usage and statistics
• Provide support to subscription building, maintenance, analysis and survey
• Assist with Web-related and technical projects, including new/improved websites and tools as well as various software implementations
• Other duties as required under the supervision of the IFEX Manager

NOTE: This position is not specifically a web or content development role.

Qualification
Essential:
• Minimum of three years of related work experience in a position involving extensive use of Content Management Systems (CMSs such as Bricolage, Drupal, etc.)
• Experience with types of Web languages, such as PHP, JavaScript, Flash, jQuery, Perl and various APIs such as Google Maps
• Experience with Customer Relationship Management Software (CRMs such as Salesforce)
• Proficiency with Dreamweaver, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office programs
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines
• Comfortable working in a team setting and with service providers
• Interest in human rights and/or international development

Preferred:
• Familiarity with website statistics software such as Google Analytics
• Experience with RSS, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking tools an asset
• Experience with online survey and form-creation tools an asset

Must be eligible to work in Canada
