2012 CJFE Annual General Meeting

CJFE invites all CJFE members to attend the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Massey College.

Evening's Events:

6:30 pm–7:45 pm: Business Meeting (Members only) — Election of directors

8:00 pm–9:30 pm: Reception (Open to the public) — “I Write What I Think: A Conversation with Heather Mallick.”

Heather Mallick

Mallick, a staff columnist for the Toronto Star, grew up in small towns in northern Canada and now lives in Toronto. She has an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Toronto and has worked as a reporter, copy editor and book review editor at various print newspapers. She wrote a column called As If in the Globe and Mail for several years, as well as a political column for the New York Times Syndication Service. She also wrote columns for CBC.ca for a number of years. Her first book, Pearls in Vinegar, was a modern version of the tenth-century Japanese pillow-book diary of Shei Shonagon. It was published by Penguin in 2004. Her second book, Cake or Death, a collection of original essays about finding consolations for living through the Bush era, was published by Knopf in 2007. Heather occasionally writes for the "Comment is Free" section of the Guardian Online.

• CJFE members may nominate someone for election to the CJFE Board of Directors. Please use the Nomination Form and send it to Leslie de Freitas at ldefreitas@cjfe.org or mail it to:

Nominations must be received by CJFE on or before June 6, 2012.

Please note that membership payments must be paid each calendar year, and current memberships should have been paid after January 1, 2012. The current membership fee is $75 or $25 for students and those on a fixed income. There will be a membership table at the AGM where you can check your status, and make a payment, if necessary.
