The 6th annual CJFE Gala was held at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada, 6 November 2003. The International Press Freedom Awards recognized international journalists Luis Alberto Perez Barillas and Xu Wei with the 2003 International Press Freedom Awards. The Tara Singh Hayer Memorial Award was given to Zahra Kazemi.
