Crowdfunding Update: The perks of supporting free expression

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

CJFE would like to start this week’s campaign update by thanking TC Transcontinental Printing, who has just confirmed they will be printing the upcoming Review free of charge.

Their generosity means we will be able to dedicate more resources to other elements of the Review that need our attention.

There’s just three weeks left to make your donation to our crowdfunding campaign for the annual Review of Free Expression in Canada.

Any donation, however big or small, makes a huge impact in advancing CJFE’s efforts to monitor and defend the freedom of expression. Having raised $2,665, we are incredibly impressed with how far the campaign has come since its launch last month. To show our appreciation, we’ve ensured that each and every donor receives something special in return for their contribution.

Our campaign page outlines the perks you would receive as a thank-you for your individual donation. Ranging from formal acknowledgements to once-in-a-lifetime experiences, these perks have been carefully selected to cover a range of donations and donor profiles:

  • Are you an avid fan of the Toronto Star? Claim one of seven tours of the Toronto Star’s newsroom or the privilege of having lunch with Toronto Star journalist and author of Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story (2014), Robyn Doolittle.
  • Want to see your name in print? You can be listed as a contributor to the Review on CJFE’s website or hear your name read in thanks during our Annual General Meeting.
  • Are you teaching a class related to free expression, journalism, or media studies? Claim one of three opportunities to have a CJFE staff member conduct a guest lecture in your class.
  • You can claim any of these perks, along with the assurance of knowing you’re helping to advance freedom of expression in Canada, by making your donation to our crowdfunding campaign.
