On June 11, 2015, CJFE hosted a public debate on the limits of free speech and the necessity of hate speech legislation in Canada. The debate addressed the following questions: BE IT RESOLVED that Canada's hate speech laws are necessary. Bernie Farber and David Butt defended the resolution while Clayton Ruby and Sukanya Pillay argued against it, moderated by Julian Sher.
