Canadian Journalists for Free Expression is holding a free, full-day workshop highlighting common risks and providing practical ways to strengthen digital security. The training will help to ensure that journalists and human rights workers have the knowledge and tools required to use the internet and associated tools securely, facilitating the crucial public interest work that they perform on behalf of Canadian society. A full program will be posted shortly.
When: 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, October 29th, 2017
Where: Centre for Social Innovation, 192 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON.
This venue is fully accessible.
The training is free, but space is extremely limited. In reviewing applications, we will prioritize participants who are journalists, community and local activists or human rights workers. All participants must commit to attending the full day session — lunch will be provided.
Note: There will be video cameras present to record trainer presentations for public use, but we will have a procedure in place for participants who do not wish to be filmed.
This workshop is made possible by a grant from CIRA’s Community Investment Program.
