The Fahmy Foundation is holding a rally in Vancouver on World Press Freedom Day to highlight the plight of journalists and photographers who have been arrested and jailed for doing their jobs. The Fahmy Foundation was started by Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy after being released from an Egyptian jail for his ongoing retrial.
Join the rally to show your support for the right to report freely and safely. Music, speakers and a direct action that you can help with will work to send the message that journalism is not a crime. A statement from Canadian Journalists for Free Expression in support of World Press Freedom Day and the Fahmy Foundation’s current cases will be read at the event.
If you are unable to attend the rally, continue to check the Fahmy Foundation event page for ways to show your support and participate online on May 3rd.
