Saturday, May 15, 2004In commemoration of World Press Freedom Day, Reporters Without Borders Canada (RWB) is organizing a Canadian tour of three Canadian cities. RWB will be hosting events in Ottawa and Montreal, and joins with Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE), in presenting the event in Toronto. The evening will feature Nael Shyoukhi, a Palestinian cameraman for Reuters in the West Bank, and Miki Kratsman, a photographer for the Israeli daily Haaretz. Both will speak about the risks and challenges of working in the embattled region. The Toronto event is hosted by Susan Ormiston, Host of CBC's Inside Media. Who are the journalists behind the images that come to us daily? Is it possible to be objective about a conflict that has engulfed one's own people? RWB will also screen photojournalist Patrick Chauvel's latest documentary "Mirrors of the War." This 52-minute documentary, presented exclusively by RWB in Canada, portrays six photographers on opposite sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
